I can't look at this without getting choked up. I haven't seen NY in person since before the towers came down. I just don't know how anyone got used to them not being there.
Laurie, I know what you mean. I am still not used to them missing. Years ago when I lived on Thompson street in the Village, I would walk down my block every day and I would see them standing there as I walked the full length of my block and I would look at them the whole time as I walked. They were especially pretty at dusk when they were all lit up. I also liked to sit on my fire escape and look at them. I absolutely loved the fact that The Twin Towers were my view. Now when I visit the city, I always make sure to look in the direction where they once stood, just to acknowledge the losses of everyone who grieves since that tragic day, I will never forget.

I will never forget visiting the Towers, taking our grandson there, enjoying the 'helicopter' ride over the city, the large relief map of the city. The long ride up and down in the elevator to the roof. My heart still hurts looking at the towers and seeing the memorial in lights. Helen K
The news reported that they finally started work on the site. It took 7 years of red tape and law suits to get this thing going.
BTW, your second photo looks very similar to the one I took from my friend's apartment roof top. She lives on West 10th and Greenwich. You must be near there too.

Very nice Ken. I walked by there today. Crews seemed to be setting up stages for the memorial ceremony on the 11th.

And the NYC souvenir paperweight on my desk at work still has the towers.
