Fedora closing?

A 60 year old landmark Village restaurant, Fedora's fate is unknown. Liquor licences, irate neighbors, a new owner, it all adds up to confusion. Fedora lies in the balance, and perhaps this beautiful sign to boot.

254 West Fourth Street

On a block that is rapidly being turned into a playground for hipsters and the well heeled, this old building at 254 West Fourth Street is a relic, a ruin, a reminder of the old Greenwich Village. This crusty doorbell probably hasn't been painted in 30 years. Down the block, Fedora, a 60 year old restaurant, is about to change hands, and perhaps not for the better. New York City is turning in a "luxury city" that few can afford, but a few old buildings hold on.

Al-Karappi, the Great Frozen Eye of Tehran

Originally posted 7/2008: The southwest corner of Washington Square Park is full of chess players. Many are intent on playing chess, others deal drugs (man hiding face). This wild man arrived from the 4th dimension, and threatened to kill me with his eyeball death ray.
