Whitewashed!

5Pointz, Long Island City's graffiti mecca, was entirely whitewashed last night, with police protection. Covering roughly five square blocks, 5Pointz artists tried to have the warehouse building land-marked but to no avail. The whitewashing of New York City continues, unabated. There's really no need to visit anymore, NYC 2013 resembles anywhere USA.
Bring out your dead.

Banksy Tribeca

Thanks for the comments everyone. Banksy is an English artist who began as as controversial graffiti artist, though I believe his work is much smarter and more clever than any graffiti artist I've seen. The graffiti artists whose work I posted from a Long Island City (in Queens) building before the Banksy stuff is the best NY has to offer. I have a few more shots from the month Banksy spent in NYC.

Banksy Banality of Evil

Here, Banksy painted a Nazi into a preexisting painting, which he bought from a thrift store. Afterwards, he returned it to the thrift store. Wonder if they noticed.

New York's Famous High Line, 7/4 2008

Before gentrification ran amok, west Manhattan from 34th to 14th was a weird, dangerous, and er, unique place, instead of the strip mall for the uber rich it has become.
