At Lincoln Center

The subway entrance to Lincoln Center at 66th Street is covered in these cool inlaid murals. I think they represent characters from particular operas, but not sure. Do you recognize either of these two? Calling all opera fans!

Ken...yes, I am making sauce from our garden. We have bushels of tomatoes, peppers and onions. I don't do preserves, but I traded strawberries and rhubarb from our garden and got jam in return. Bartering is good. I've gotten more jam, chili sauce and chutney. Thanks for your comments. I've passed your site on to others.

I haven't been there in a while, but as I recall, all of the mosaics had little plaques explaining what they represent. I'll have to check next time I go to Lincoln Center.

Back in the olden days I attended a few seasons of opera. You couldn't pay me to attend now. However, I would attend the ballet given the opportunity.

For fun and at the risk of making a complete ass of myself I'll take a wild guess. Top one might be from Aida and the bottom could possibly be from Norma.

Opera trivia buffs are a breed apart, they aren't like us, normal.

I have no idea. But I do like this type of mural.

oh my, they are beautiful! Sometimes the subway surprises me. I wish I knew what they represent. I've been dying to go to the opera.

I don't think they have plaques. You must be right,I am pretty sure it must be Opera-related. No clue which one though. In another area they have dancers, which I guess must refer to the NYBallet. I'll have to check next time if the remaining buildings (philarmonic, theater and cinema) are represented too.

Whoever they're supposed to be, what a beautiful mosaic for such a mundane thing as a subway entrance! Love it.
