Seaport ruin

Much of South Street Seaport is being developed for the well heeled and the tourists. Chain stores and walking tours fill old streets that were once dominiated by fishermen and the Mob. But on some streets hulks of the old buildings remain, ghosts of the past like this ancient column bordering a Front Street storefront.

Great photo. I am envious of your "eye".

I haven't been to NYC in 20 years but it sounds like it is becoming filled with just as many "cookie-cutter" stores as anywhere else.

(Very nice colors, never realized how well sunset mixes with rust.)

Wow, I love the patina and details on the wall. The peeling paint and rusted wire give the photo some interesting characters.

Great job! It's not an easy job getting beautiful photos like this.

I love the finish on this. I make a glaze that looks like this.

Sounds like you're seeing big change there.
We are all experiencing great change, the greatest time has ever allowed, and fastest.

Almost unbelievable that once man was struggling to survive simply as a species on this earth.

And now is struggling to survive as a species on this earth.. Irony..if you get my drift.

I love the rust and peeling paint.
Those carved details are beautiful. I bet the new stuff won't be half as interesting or well made. I wish I had your eye for great shots!
