These are fantastic Ken, such a treat with all that vintage signage too. Is the Clam Broth House still open for business? And I find it so funny that red British phone boxes (in the Hotel Edwards shot) crop up in the US - is that really what people think of England?
There are some gems here Ken but the RR station is a startling treat. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out whether it has indoor plumbing or there is another explanation for what look like dozens of outhouses.
I'm going to Google Maps to find out where Lackwana is.
Great slices of life from the past. The past is a gas, as Frank might say. Unfortunately, the past is past And I wish it would last At least until today.
KM, How do you find them all my friend??? I can't even choose, but the train station in its verdigris splendor is just so beautiful. Bring on more. What a treasure they are.
I've only been to Hoboken once, to watch a movie starring Marlon Brando filmed in Hoboken, of course. Can't remember the name of it but it's about a boxer trying to get work in a shipping dock.
the train station is still the main terminal for Hoboken. But the Hudson side is no longer used as a port. Hoboken is perhaps most famous as the location for On The Waterfront with Marlon Brando, which was filmed steps away from here.
Nice pics Ken. There is indeed a bevy of vintage treasures to be found just a stop or two away on the PATH. Things seem to move a little slower over there and I like it. In fact here are some of my "Hoboken Gems": http://huntergatherernyc.com/2009/03/hoboken-gems/

oh lovely lovely - so much to love in all these photos!
(but the thought of actual clam broth makes me retch a little)
The Sinatra hang out is great. Is that in Hoboken near "Frank Sintra Way" - the entire waterfront?
Love your comment about the Haberdashery.
Is Clam Broth House slipping into something more comfortable?
So many cool old buildings with so much history. You gotta love it.
I know I do.
Wow, such a great collection here Ken. I love the Clam Broth House shot.

Fantastic the train station! I never had seen a green building like that! Its beautiful!
BTW, thanks for coming to see our Blog in Rio! We hope you enjoy that!
I wonder how much of this will survive for another 30 years.

I Haven't been to Hoboken in 10 years... I was curious too about the Clam Broth House... must Google to see if it's still open. I lost track...
only the Clam Broth House sign remains. Looks to be a fratty bar in its former building.
I enjoyed all these shots but that Hotel Edwards is great with the "Live Blues" sign and the red telephone booth is fantastic!
Great signs. Fantastic that there are so many in one small place. Thanks for capturing them.
Great old signs!
The Train Station photo is amazing. I googled the station, and the upper part of the exterior is covered in copper, just as it appears to be.

Those old signs are tasty.
Really wonderful that train station.

You find the most precious treasures! I love the train station. Is it still a train station?

Clam Broth House sign is actually a hand with a pointing finger (the cloth is draped over the finger so it's not obvious)
Cool
Lackawanna is such a funny station name
