wow, I never thought this would be destroyed, I had no idea... Oh well.
Wow, a cool piece of history lost. The building has an interesting design.
Oh. I'm having trouble believing this church is gone.
What?! But it's a fascinating piece of architecture! That's just awful! :(
Are the Catholic church big on blue glass monstrosities now then?
Another one bites the dust. The destruction of old buildings continues. I'm glad you take pictures before they go.
That's just sad! Such an interesting building. Will the new one be as interesting? I doubt it.
As far as I can tell, architecture was not a Catholic strong suit in the Sixties. (Just my opinion.)
Perhaps it was designed to look like a ship - to carry the faithful to the promised land.No big loss, I think. It will be interesting to see the "blue glass monstrosity."Who makes these decisions, anyway. Probably not the hoi polloi.
Good-bye SPACE 1999, we'll miss you!
for the time being, it's a nice hole in the ground! party!
It's not so much that it was a beautiful building, just that it differed from the huge NYU buildings on that side of the square. I guess it just didn't get quite old enough to become respectable.
