Empire Diner in Chelsea near 23rd Street used to stink of gentrification and yunnie putrefaction. But it's aged into a real beauty, a cornerstone of the neighborhood. Long may it sling hash.
These old diners are so much fun! They built a new "old" diner in Boca Raton which we patronized frequently, but eventually went out of business. Very sad.
The "EAT" sign is great. Is that an arrow we can't see next to it? Sometimes when I visit here my eyes want to puddle up. It's wonderful that you're recording all of these images.

I'll be sitting there in a year or so enjoying an omelet. I'm saving up for a trip to NYC.

Love the way you composed this!
Now that really does say NYC to me :)

That looks like a real diner. Nice looking.
Definitely very retro, this place looks great. I like the old Diner font too. Has anyone eaten here, any good?
Looks like Mickey's in downtown
St. Paul; they say the Mulligan stew is a good sobering agent after the bars close.
I just love your photos ... an ex-Brooklyn lady!
Great photo! Sure, this architecture does say NYC to me, too.
