Deep in Chinatown, I spied this mystery meat. What is it?

Mystery meat....that's what we used to call the food in our school cafeteria...ages ago, of course.

Did you purchase any of this mysterious food?

Chicken feet? Heavily marinated chicken feet? I'm not sure I want to know but I distinctly see bird claws in there. I can only hope that they are for seasoning soup and not snacking on. Good one, as always.

And pre-packaged for freshness.

Once upon a time, before I became a vegetarian, I had a tenant who was Chinese and spoke little or no English. One day, as a thank you for something or other, she brought me a food parcel from Chinatown. It was still warm and I unwrapped the paper. It was a cooked chicken. With the head still on.

I couldn't eat it.

Chicken wings and chicken claws. Yummy!!

Hey, I'm Chinese so I ate those before.

They should be goose or duck wings and feet cooked with dark soya sauce and cane sugar.

And the rice thing, it's a dessert. Glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk usually.
