Miracle Reducers

Greenwich Village Daily Photo is down in N.C. looking after his Mom this week. So here are some pics of New Orleans from Mom's computer, taken pre Katrina, around 2003.

I find those balconies so typical of N.O.! Those houses are so cool! Just wonder if the ones on your mother's photos have survived Katrina...

The beautiful French Quarter...I've only been to New Orleans once...when I was a teenager so many years ago. But I do have great memories of the beauty and uniqueness of the city. It was a memorable vacation.

I also need some of those bottled miracles...quickly please!

Beautiful. I've been to N.O. once, in June, just before Katrina. I still hear the taxi driver saying that they were waiting for the big one but that there wouldn't be any problem since they had brand new, wonderful levées.
I totally fell in love with those balconies, their cascading flowers and luxurious vegetation, the antebellum charm of the shotguns,... A world way from NYC.

About my silly little phone, I feel your pain. It's annoying that you would get this result with just a little click. If that makes you feel any better, I had to take 5 pics to get one that was ok. If that isn't enough, take a look at the larger version: see all that digital "noise"? Still not better? Then I recommend an Alca-Selzer. That's all I can think of.

Take good care of your mom.

Ken Mac,
Thanks for visiting my blog and the nice comments. You had mentioned you liked my banner photo. I wanted to tell you that the banner photo is my beloved baby girl. It's one of my all-time favorite snapshots. In fact, it was my very 1st post in my Knoxville Daily blog. I like your blog lots and am glad I've discovered you. I plan to return.

KM,
I haven't visited this week , forgive me. About hte photos. They are great . Another time to be remembered fondly . About the MIracle Reducers, I don't need to reduce my miracles , I need to have as many as I can get. On the other hand, if it means a miracle that REDUCES, then bring em on!!!! I am going off to Paris in about 6 weeks and I should have done something about reducing before now. Thank goodness I don't need that Polident yet!!

PS My best to your mom. You're a good boy!

Love the houses in the photos, especially the balconies! I hope they survived Katrina.

Bless you for taking care of your mom. I hope she gets well soon.

Ken Mac,
About the age of the trees, I forgot to say that the 1#, 2#, 3# 5# and 6# has about 32 years old. The 4# I don't know, because it is a native tree and I could not know...

I lived in the Vieux Carre for several years in the early 80's. Many fond if not not ultra-clear memories.(Actually, I lived on a boat that went up and down the Mississippi but we tied up at Poydras St. wharf.)

Hope your mom is feeling better. You are a good son!

I went to school in rural Louisiana in the early to mid-1990s so I've been to New Orleans many times. I remember being in awe at the city and the energy there, especially in the French Quarters. It was soooo sophisticated with its French bakeries and cafes, Cajun cuisines, etc. I was a poor student then so everything was expensive and desirable.

I would love to go back again and see ot through a different eyes, ie. someone who has lived in NYC for over a decade. Would I still be as impressed as I was when I was a hick.
