As you can guess, I am not a big fan of most of the new buildings in Manhattan. But even though they constitute a virtual "city on the Hudson," I like the Richard Meier Towers. I like the blue against blue, the sleekness and cold uniformity they present. Oddly enough, many of its tenants, like Nicole Kidman (who initially demanded her own secret passageway below the buildings), have complained about poor construction, no heating, and ceilings that drip. Yours for only millions per dwelling unit!

I like the blues also. I'd complain as well if I had to deal with no heat and drippy ceilings, sheesh!
I'm don't know Meier work very well but this is a familiar sounding issue. We have a city full of condos and I'll bet 80% of them have serious construction issues of some kind. Some very expensive to rectify.
The only other of his buildings I actually know is The Getty in LA. A very impressive complex, but it's all white stone. It seems it didn't occur to anyone, with clout anyway, that vast white surfaces with the LA sun bouncing off it might be hard on the peoples' eyes. It is.
I wonder how Nicole Kidman feels about the portable toilets in front of her building.
Well, thanks for the appraisal. I wondered what I could ask for my poor construction, no heating, ceilings that drip bungalow. I'm off to buy some blue paint.
That all, a mere millions? ;) The blue on blue is appealing.
I appreciate the color against the sky but they are hideous!!! I hate that mint green color. Reminds me of public bathrooms or something. I will take my millions to Paris and get a proper flat!
I need to see those in person to see if I like them. There are some gorgeous new buildings around! Renzo Piano's NYT building is one, the Bloomberg tower in the UES is another, the Frank Ghery building on the West Side, the new Bank of America headquarters, the Time Warner Center, ...
I too hate the most new condo buildings that replace wonderful old fashioned apartment buildings. Sometimes it is just a crime. But it seems that most of what is corporate (the 5 I just listed as examples) is usually innovative and interesting.
hate to set goals, I hate when still at the same time is someone over the soul - it is abuse.
Now it feels like everything fell into place, once the world picture has cleared up, and suddenly everything became clear.
