Minetta Tavern sign gets new paint and new neon.
Mass market Mexican food chain Qdoba replaces the venerable Figaro Cafe, but doesn't bother to remove the Fig's awnings..if they are this damn cheap, the food must reek.. 
And Barbie takes Manhattan

I really like the Minetta Tavern sign. My 4 year-old daughter better not see that Barbie vehicle. The ultimate Barbie car!
I am cracking up at you today. Definitely no good news a Fox, love the crack about El Cheapos, and my granddaughters would KILL for that car. OMG it actually says BARBIE on the back. Wooohooo.
I have no clue what Fox is up to but I always expect the worst from them and they've never let me down.
The Minetta sign is perfect.

I came a-visiting from Sonia's...And have been wandering tyriugh your WONDERFUL Pictures of NYC....When I came to these I just had to tell you that I spent a great deal of time on Minetta Lane, back in 1952-53....A wonderful Musician/Coach lived there and I was working with him on a sort-of Nightclub Act....
It is wonderful to see these pictures and ALL your others, too....My whole childhood and early 20's till almost 30, were spent in Manhattan....
I love how you have documented so very many places that may be gone soon, or are already gone....!
It has ben a very long time since I have been down in that area....And now that I am unable to travel, Seing pictures like this and ALL your other pictures brings back such memories....!
