Bugs, bugs bugs! Photographed at this weird Soho store where you can also buy choco covered bugs, bug pendants, bug slathered clothing and yummy bug-cicles. You can't make this stuff up..
Is there a difference between the two photos? If not, well, the bugs are cool enough to look at twice. :)
I remember the first time I saw one of those bug lollipops. They were SO GROSS but SO AWESOME. We bought a few--millipede and grasshopper flavored--but I don't think we ever worked up the nerve to actually eat them.
But I'm a wuss. There are several regions here in the Philippines whose delicacies include field crickets and I hear they're very tasty and much 'cleaner' than pork or chicken. But I can't, I really can't — they look too much like cockroaches to me.
And your 'bodegas' intrigues me. Here, the word bodega means storeroom or warehouse. Same there?

I've heard it is very tasty, heathy protein - obviously with a nice crunch. Address of the SoHo place dear, so we can all go for a treat!
The ones in your picture are quite decorative too. I can see that in a study. Great find!
it's on Broome west of Bway...can't remember the name of the place..need to head down and take some more pics!
Yikes, Ken. Not my kind of shop.
By the way. . .. There used to be a small rubber stamp store in the Village. . . .Do you know if it's still there?
This is all a bit Silence of the Lambs meest Southern Comfrot. Freaky, but a great post.
I know that store very well. I used to volunteer for God's Love We Deliver on 6th and Spring every weekend.
They have cool stuff but not something I want in my apartment.
I have ones like the blues of the 1rst photo :)
