Put the knife in and twist it. KM, I"ve tried my darndest to find out about this dear place. I know it's here in Birmingham but I"ve not found out WHERE. This makes me know I need to start beating the bushes again. When I find it, you're expected to come down here you know!

PS I"ve an idea. How about sharing this photo with me. I'll run it on my blog and maybe we'll shake things up.
OK?

Oh dear, I misread. It's not the Cheyenne but looks just like it! The deal still stands. Send me the Cheyenne photo. We're getting to the bottom of this !!!

I'll bet you can get a good breakfast here all day long.

How are you doing Ken Mac?

...and when there was the new version of KING KONG they had a stuffed Gorilla hanging off the Empire State Building on the roof corner.

You can see only the bottom most part in the photo. The Gorilla was cute and the idea was quite clever.

That's maybe the ONE thing I miss most of not ever having permanently lived in America. Diners.

This one looks fabulous.

Ciao xx

Somehow it reminds me of an misplaced, old railway dining car. Might be worth trying if I ever gets there.

I ate here the night of my twenty-ninth birthday (my first birthday in NYC). They gave me a t-shirt as a birthday gift: it's black with the word "EAT" on the back. I'd wanted to go here ever since I saw John Baeder's painting on the cover of the Tom Waits compilation "Asylum Years". A digitally-created image of The Empire Diner by Portuguese artist Jorge Colombo is on the cover of this week's New Yorker. It looks like a painting but after looking at the artist's website turns out it was actually created using a brush application on an iPhone. Amazing.

I love the looks of this place. All that chrome!

What presence, sitting there,
even the typeface font is special, repeating the lines running along soffit and fascia.
I hope business is good and the place is there to stay!

I thought that would make V. jump. :-) Good strategy for getting her off her butt Ken.

Looks to be made by the same company as the Cheyenne.

I love these diners. There aren't hardly any left. We have ONE here in Rochester: The Highland Diner.
