Then it was the greasiest of spoons, with its refrigerator case exposed to public view, displaying processed meats in various shades of gray. Absolutely delicious and satisfying $2.50, 2 a.m. bacon cheeseburgers, though. And not a bad place to park yourself at one of its outdoor tables and have a beer or two on a pleasant afternoon.
Then came this place with its unlisted reservation phone line and "secret" entrance to the inner sanctum.
