Good People

...in Detroit, Michigan, circa 1960 after a hardy White Castle meal of chocolate shake, fries, hamburger and apple pie with melted cheddar cheese on top. Good people.

White Castle, still the best fast food for your dollar.
I remember ordering a sack at the downtown location(St. Paul)about 40 years ago, having the server ask me, "whaddya gonna do, stand on a bridge and throw 'em at cars?"
I still chuckle when I remember that day.

Hi,

I live in the Detroit area, and visited New York City this past summer so I am totally enjoying this site. All the pictures are hidden gems and so make me want to return ASAP to explore the city further.

This picture made me think of a bit of Detroit trivia I'd like to share:

There is a salt mine under part of the city of Detroit. There is one area where you can smell the onions and burgers cooking from a White Castle above the ground. The salt mine in now closed, but the tour I took of years ago has stuck with me since then.

Again I love this site.

I could go for a piece of apple pie with cheddar cheese melted on it. Tis the season. Thanks for your comments.

They look like good humored people sharing a fun moment.
Also, love the hats and gloves. These are bona fide ladies.

I love these old pictures, the cars, the clothes, very nostalgic.

I love these old photos. Love the days when people "dressed up" for life. No sweat pants here.

There's a 1957 Plymouth in the background, with the fins. We had one of those in Ohio. It was my favorite car (I was too young to drive it, had to wait for 64 Impala). It had push-button transmission interface to the left of the steering wheel, very modern.
I hope none of these good people had to have a post White Castle bypass.
Did you color correct this one? Nice, but maybe slightly too blueish.

This is fabulous. And I LOVE the blue tint of that old Kodachrome. Who are they?
