West Side Lock Up

Bayview Correctional Facility. Has a nice ring doesn't it? A closer inspection of this riverside Art Deco building reveals that once upon a time it most likely housed a shipping line, or perhaps a govt. port facility. Once I started to snap pics of the beautiful nautical reliefs which adorn the side of the structure, security ran me off. Welcome to the West Village!

Love that front and those details!

And security—humbug! I got ran off too when they saw me taking pictures at The Medical City (hospital).

I'm missing something here. Why would they run you off for taking a picture of the pretty lighthouse detail?

It's a jail, a correctional facility. And in New York they are very aware of possible terrorists photograping govt bldgs...

I wondered the same as d, but your explanation makes sense.

Love the nautical theme!

Hey, Ken! We must be online at the same time.

The Opry originally was at the Ryman Auditorium, but for years it's been in its own building on the grounds of Opryland Hotel. The Ryman is downtown, and there are numerous bars and music venues within walking distance. They still have concerts at The Ryman (I've seen a bunch of concerts, including Mary Chapin Carpenter and Dixie Chicks.), as well as stage productions.

Opryland is not downtown. It's a bit northwest. The hotel itself is a tourist attraction, and there is an outlet mall behind it (within walking distance). I've been to the current Opry site three times - the Opry once and CMAs twice.

Hope this helps!

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
