Like everything in NYC, it's all about money. After 60 years in business, Joe's Dairy closed Saturday: the rent doubled. In the corner, Joe Jr gives the world his 2 cents.
"Joe's Dairy was one of the last remnants of working-class SoHo. It hailed from a time before the art galleries, before the boutique shops, before the luxury chains. In a way, it belonged more to the old South Village Italian community of Bleecker Street and thereabouts than it did to the cast-iron region real estate agents christened SoHo." Brooks at Lost City

I had to give up my dairy business in 1989. It was a sad but inevitable day. So long Joe.
Its a pity and the shop looks indeed 60 years old. Another victim of the times. Only the picture keep the memory alive.
shame!!
They just keep tumbling. As the movie says, Follow the money.
The easy way to "rejuvenate" - double the rent. A world-wide phenomenon.
My sis informed me about your site and the way nice it is.
She’s right, I am really impressed with the writing and
slick design. It seems to me you’re just scratching the floor by way of what you'll be able to accomplish, but you’re off to an amazing start!
