10 bucks a night buys you a towel, a closet to sleep in, and plenty of sad men to slap yer back...."Residents sit hunched over cans of soda or cups of coffee, eyes closed or staring, lost in silence. A man in a wheelchair whose left leg ends in a stump below the knee can often be found there, listening to music on earphones. After a time, he laboriously wheels himself across the lobby, through another door and down the hall toward his room." New York Times

I thought flophouses disappeared from NYC years ago.
Interesting, but sad.
At first, I thought this might be a mual or a painting... interesting coloring.
Hey Ken Mac...the colors in this shot are very rich! Thanks for your visits. Hope all is going well.
This makes me sad.

I assume that first line is yours? It's perfect.
Ken Mac, the colors in this picture is amazing!
This was the Sunshine Hotel.
Great shot, Ken... top floor of the whitehouse is still considered a flophouse too...
Your photos this week could illustrate John Steinbeck novels! Unbelievable!

All the stuff that goes on behind the scenes . . . Thanks for reminding us.
That movie about Street Art, by the way, is titled "Exit through the Gift Shop." It created some ambivalence in me, as you can see at my blog. But the big questions are the most interesting, even if they're disturbing--like flophouses.
Only depressing!
I agree with Altadenahiker - that first line is a cracker!
