It snowed briefly last night. A shot from my window, facing south to the financial district in the distance.
Weird fact: See the upper left hand corner window in the building to the right? For years a light has come on in that apartment window, but there is never anyone actually in there....ever...never...

This is the type of photo of NY that takes my breath away. This reminds me of all the reasons why I love NY.
Great one KM!
Oh this is just timeless and magical. The light is so warm and golden and the streets so cold. THis is one of your best and no mention of "naughtiness" ! :)

Ken, if I were you I wouldn't argue with V. And besides, in this case she's absolutely right. This image is fabulous.
It is beautiful, snow piled slightly on the street, just like a cosmetic.
We have never snow around Tokyo in this winter.
Gosh, I like the cloud cover and the city lights in the background (very Gotham City-ish)contrasted by the color of the brick buildings. Great photo.
Ken, this picture really brought back some heavy nostalgia.
Oddly enough, it snowed in the Berkeley hills last night too. Now, snow is not something we get too often. And the event occupied most of the local news broadcasts. Skiing in Tilden Park!
But as I was telling my California-born wife, it was nothing like winter snows in NYC.
But the Village at night in snow is something I can remember quite vividly. And one special New Year's eve, maybe 1966/67 when I walked from the far west village back to my apt on Waverly Pl in a snowstorm at 2am.
The silence of the snow and the stillness is still in my mind's eye as I write this.
Naturally, I didn't have my camera.
Wonderful shot Ming. The warm tones and the glow in the distance. The snow just adds a magical touch.
Love this photo...composition and light...wow.

Sorry KM -- I had too many windows open at the same time.
This looks so so so NY to me (I've never been, sadly, though hopefully will rectify that some day). I love the contrast between the colourful foreground and the foggy dark background - a fantastic picture!
Thanks for visiting my blog at Glasgow DP and leaving a comment - it's much appreciated!
wow what a terrific view... magical shot. :-)
That is beautiful, Ken. Have you doctored the photo? It has an Impressionist feel to it.
Brilliant shot! Love the contrasting grey background! It looks pretty cold...
It has a beautiful warmth from the lit up brickwork considering it is the cold financial sector. Also giving me a touch of vertigo which is always a sign of great photography.
Marvellous is the only adjective no one have used so far about this picture I think! Great work!
wow, thanks for all the nice comments everbody! Less thought went into this pic than most of the ones I struggle over. This was shot quickly, with a Canon SD870, no touch up afterwards. Guess it's a little blurry....I usually like em crystal clear.
I like your blog very much, Ken, and that is why I give the award I received (visit my blog) on to 8 other blogger friends, among whom yourself!
Cheers from Arona.

Love this photo! You have a nice view!
A snowy New York, lovely :)
very cool photo!
we completely missed the snow, or else we were out to lunch. Love the lights in the background, way in the distance.
I wonder if you enjoy living in NY? I remember my first time away from home and shifting to a big city (by our standards) of Wellington, New Zealand. I was 21 and it was a real thrill. This photo gives that impression. - Dave
Hi Ken,
I am looking at this type of windows that reminds me on "Friends" or "Seinfeld"....Are they typical American or...?
What a wonderful-looking scene.
Paz (who forgot to look out her window when it snowed.)
Fantastic photo, picture perfect! I like your soft focus here, it heightens the sense o falling snow. A cold wintery scene, but the warm colors from the buildings and light give it that cozy feeling.
That's a really wonderful shot. Wonderful color but more than that, it tells you so much about Manhattan, old and new. (I hope I'm not repeating what anyone else has already said - there are too many comments to read. That never happens with my shots.0
Plus, I envy you for having such a nice view.
Thanks everyone, the amount of comments for this post has been astounding. Not sure why everyone loves this shot, but glad they do!
The street below in the last photo looks very It's A Wonderful Life(ish). And the spooky window has a green glow to it... wonder what the story is.
