I don't know how I know this -- probably overhearing the parents. But Krakatoa was west of Java.

Both "Popi" and "Krakatoa East of Java" came out in 1969.

As I understand it, this picture is actually from May 27, 1969, so it's actually close to the end of the 1960's and the beginning of the '70s. What makes it obvious is that the Astor Hotel had been torn down to make way for One Astor Plaza/1515 Broadway, currently the home of MTV's Studios.
