This old tree was an East Village landmark. Apparently the City thought better than to let it grow and pruned it to a single bare stalk. Thanks Bloomberg!
How does one NOT see a woman's hair in weeping willows? A great looking tree. I too have wondered about the argument that they MUST be pruned. The way they are in natural forests? Ditto for mowing lawns and raking leaves. But I'm no expert.

Thanks for the correction !
Still not sure I believe that is good for the tree, and it certainly wasn't necessary

I too wonder about what happens in nature, when you hear, must be pruned.
hey great job with your blog! I found you from Leovi blog, come check out my art page as well =)
That is terrible.
Weeping willows are invasive trees, though. They take up all the water from surrounding plants.
But I can understand your feelings. It's tough to see large living things destroyed.
Too bad, its a beautiful tree...
This is not the one!!!Wrong location.
