The High LIne Part 1

The High Line is a renovated elevated train line running along Manhattan's west side, from the Meatpacking District to 20th Street in Chelsea, where it abruptly ends. They have yet to get permission to extend the line up to 33rd Street, where it originated when built in the 1930s. To see what the tourists can't, check my blog Walking The High Line, where I photographed the still wild and abandoned High Line in July of 2008. Or just enjoy shots of the current walk...it's pretty cool!

Hi Ken Mac--glad you are back posting and feeling good. I must get here--your photos are lovely--my friend Ken has gotten to The Hi Line in the early morning and says it's nice. I'll get there any day now. I went swimming today to cool off and it was lovely!

I only discovered that blog you did of the renovation of this place yesterday... and here it is all wrapped up neatly today just like a make-over tv show. Gen Y style blog-reading at its most satisfying - all we needed a montage!

I remember your previous post...and thought then, as now, this is a wonderful and creative use of space in the big city!

Ken,
the pathway IS a welcome greenspace and perfect for people and river watching.

looking forward to the completion.

do you have any info on the planned waterway on the highline? we're curious on what the folk are planning. seems that the walkway is too narrow for a river/spring . . . maybe we misunderstand.

thanks for the coverage.

A sensible guideline is that a rider seated on a bike ought to be able to put their feet flat on the ground without standing up. If you want to be a better rider and have a little more fun then a two-stroke would be a great choice, but if you want a full-size four-stroke trail bike then a 250cc would be a good bike too, because they have plenty of power and are able to be street legal.
