up until 2000 i lived on South 5th, just across Havemeyer two blocks away. back then this a bank, now a church.
back then, Los Sures, as this was known was crack city, any walk in the nabe made the snap crackle pop of the vials on the sidewalk.
that tall building in the background is new, behind it is the old Domino Sugar plant, currently under renovation and soon to be a waterfront luxury condo.
just as soon as the backpack crew moved in, they were followed by the gentry seeking to acquire hip by proxy, and today are slowly moving working class hipsters out, just as they once moved Native New Yorkers out.
i should say that moving crack out was a short-lived improvement since any semblance of art and soul is moving on as well.
welcome the new sterility.
as always, beautiful work, Brother. thank you for your efforts.

I had to google to confirm it's part of Brooklyn although the overcast greyness originally made me think "London."
