Beautiful "Green Point Savings Bank"

From the era when Greenpoint was still two separate words. The latest Brooklyn neighborhood to suffer the gentrification that has nearly destroyed the soul of NYC, Greenpoint has largely held on to its Polish culture with excellent bakeries and restaurants up and down Greenpoint and Manahattan Avenues.

When my father was a Senior VP at the Green Point Bank back in the 1960s, he would very occasionally take me with him to work. I got to help his secretary, Regina, file index cards, and everybody told me how my smile was just like my dad's (a compliment, 'cause he always smiled and was well-loved there). I felt like Jane Banks from the movie, Mary Poppins, entering this grand building. Even now the scene at the end where the children are running amok in the bank really resonates.
