Sometimes I try to imagine living in that era, in NY or anywhere. I pretty much fail. It looks more elegant to me, but I know better.

The tall building in the back seems to be about 20 stories high.

Elevators must have existed at that time but I'm not sure I would have wanted to get in one.

Although Wikipedia just told me "Archimedes (c. 287 BC – c. 212 BC) built his first elevator probably in 236 BC."
