Shartlesville Hotel

I recently drove from NC to NYC, evading the storms that dumped tornadoes on the south as I sped northward. Here's a shot from the Amish town of Shartlesville, PA, home to this now defunct establishment and the famous Haags Hotel and Bar.

That Amish country in SE Penna. is so gorgeous--but last time I was there (eight years ago?), it was getting pretty commercial and busy.

I love old roadside billboards, signs from yesteryear.

Nice old lettering. I am wondering what they mean by Dutch family style dinners.

It's a great sign. I'm sorry I'll never eat there.

"(G)reenwich (V)illage (D)aily (P)hoto" has been included in the A Sunday Drive for this week. Be assured that I hope this helps to point even more new visitors in your direction.
