Why is it closing? What a bummer. I really like the building.

I think Sting, Billy Joel and Sarandon pulled their kids!

So who said money doesn't help? I presume the imported students are there on scholarships of some sort? Too bad it's closing as it sounds like a wonderful opportunity for a few less privileged to get a leg up.

LIttle Red Schoolhouse for this big brick baby makes me laugh at how contrived it is. How about New York City Day School or.......never mind. CLosing? Why?

The end of an era? Maybe they want to turn it into apartments which would be more profitable as it seems the kids skip school such a lot nowdays? :)

Walking to work one morning I remember seeing Matthew Modine drop his son off there.
I'm sorry to hear it's closing. It is a nice building that adds a nice touch to that end of the block.

A product of the overall economy?

By the way, a lot, lot, lot of exclusive private schools really do try for economic and ethnic diversity. Maybe that's manipulative, but isn't it better than all vanilla?

This is the school where some members of the Weather Underground got their early education...always liberal to the threshold of radical, it's a landmark and a reference to other eras. I'm sorry to hear it might close.

The rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated, or something like that. The school is not only going to stay open, things are quite exciting in all three of our divisions. While all private schools in NYC have, from time to time, celebrity parents, it should not define all of our kids. Come and see what a diverse school is really like. I would love to show you around. --Phil Kassen, Director, LREI, Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School
