from 1898

Doorway of the former Germania Bank at 190 Bowery, built in 1898. Since 1966, it’s been home to photographer Jay Maisel. A final outpost of grandeur on the Bowery.

Good evening Ken Mac...ahahhhhh! You snuck in another look at the farm! Thanks for visiting. How are you feeling, and did you have the 2nd surgery?

The Doorway is beautiful. Don't see too much of that anymore.

Very nice, Ken Mac. I'll bet it was really something in 1898!

I like to see how time plays with beautiful things.

I love the parts of the Bowery that haven't turned into a glassy condo...

New York magazine had a feature on the Maisels' home some months ago. Tried to find it on their site to share with you, but couldn't, darn the luck. But the interior is very cool in a kind of ramshackle sort of way.

Is it dumb to wonder if the units inside are all triangles? Interesting building!

A reminder that "they don't build them like they used to..."
