Meatpacking A Day in the Life

Meatpacking, a venerable NY occupation that goes back to the 1900s, is all but done in the trendy West Village. But a few lone holdouts remain amid the designer shops, hipster bars and fro-yo shops.

so so sad, and I'm sure you agree, how expensive that neighborhood has become. Hello, Stella McCartney? Alexander McQueen?

The changes can't be stopped though. That's the way it is. Economics.

They should keep industry in Manhattan instead of kicking it out.
They have ruined enough of Manhattan already.(Developers, franchises, Bloomberg)

Ah Otomanelli! As you know, there's the little shop in the Village. But there is also one on the UWS, with the old b&w family pictures behind the steaks. :)
