Love the title. That's the FIRST thing I spotted was that old phone number. Mine was TRemont 9-9024! Love that long term memory thing. Now where did I put my "short term"??? Is this place stlll in "bidness" KM?
WO Wonderful .. when I was a kidlette our phone # was JE 6-0966 .. the JE was for JEROME ... there was a Jerome exchange in the Bronx.. I wonder if WO is for WORTH
our phone number was ch9 which was short for chappel 9. I always loved the sound of that. My neighbors was my4, but I can't remember what it was short for. Though her granddaughter & I spent a lot of time eavesdropping & commenting on her party line. Anyone remember party lines?
Just discovered your blog and spent 2 hours browsing your posts. New York and Grand Lake, Colorado are my favorite places in the world. We stay at a friends pre-war apartment off Bleeker 2 weeks each year and prowl the streets of the village. Wonderful posts.

Okay, so the "WO" is the first part of the phone number but what is WO short for? Wolf? Wool? Wonder?
I love those old phone numbers. I like to think I would've been on the Algonquin exchange if I'd been around back then and had a phone number.
Ken, the green leaves look mighty delicious this time of year...
