Jim and Karla Murray are one my greatest inspirations. Their amazing book, STOREFRONT -- THE DISAPPEARING FACE OF NEW YORK, chronicles the human life, the history, the mom and pop businesses of the City that was New York. Photographed with great care, love and skill, their subjects depict a pre-Bloomberg, pre-gentrification era in New York that that I mourn almost daily. Like, for real.
