Fat Black Pussycat demolished
One of the oldest bars in the Village, its history linked to the Beats, the 60s folk movement, and the old maritime life of the Hudson, the Fat Black Pussycat is demolishing its 70 year old facade, complete with slate shingles and charming dormer windows, to make way for a cold aluminum charade. The Irish workman performing the demo said "This is a shame, I used to live around the corner and was in here all the time. You can't find this kind of slate anywhere in New York anymore."
