a trip to roebling

once a great steel mill that supplied beams for the brooklyn and golden gate bridges, this ancient factory is now a tourist museum. Swanky....but the worn patina of its guard station and the looming rusty water tower looks like something else to me....

Where is Roebling? Brooklyn?

Have you read a book called THE GREAT BRIDGE by David McCollough? It's all about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. It talks about 'spinning' the giant cables right on the bridge as they needed them. It's a facinating book.

I can't decide whether I should comment on the nearly-lost America that this captures or the really intriguing character of the particular building.

Beautiful building. The colors are very pretty. I love the treatment of this photo. Feels very vintage and nostalgic and so fresh

You intrigued me when you said it looked like "something else"...I'm wondering what...because if you are anything like me (morbid), you will look at it and think Auschwitz...but maybe I am looking too deeply into it.

It looks like a location for Bad Day at Black Rock, or Giant or something.

Roebling is in NJ and they made the cables for the Brooklyn Bridge there. It was also one of America's First planned communities.
