Caffe Dante gets a makeover

"Trattoria Dante and Caffe Dante are an Italian restaurant with an emphasis on homemade pastas from the Abruzzo and Molise regions; wines, and a dessert shop that sells homemade gelati and pastries."
Well, forget that. Caffe Dante as of Monday became an upscale eatery where the old world is shoved aside for, well who knows? The younger owner plans to gut the restaurant and replace it with whatever crap passes for a fantastic upscale eatery in NYC!

Vanishing New York

In business since 1959, Oyster Bar at Seventh Avenue and 54th Street, closed this past Sunday. The usual greed was to blame. The building owner is destroying the building, and this beautiful restaurant filled with memories (and excellent seafood) so he can erect a cookie-cutter hotel like all the others in midtown. And so, New York City dies another death. Bring out your dead.
