Cold Spring New York

Reggio's Original Cappuccino

Cafe Reggio, at the corner of West Third and MacDougal is the oldest coffee bar in NYC. Amid its ancient paintings, statues and oddball bric a brac, the Reggio holds America's first espresso machine. It sits, a large silver monstrosity in a hallowed corner, little spigots and well worn spouts standing proudly. But the sugar cup makes a better photo.

Back Fence

Sandwiched in the very heart of the Greenwich Village music scene by the likes of The Bitter End, The Red Lion and Kenny's Castaways, The Back Fence has been an entertainment hot spot for 60 years! We have two or three entertainers every night playing every style of music, a great atmosphere with lots of beer on tap and free peanuts that you shell on a sawdust covered floor. http://www.thebackfenceonline.com/

Bleecker Bobs = Starbucks

Bleecker Bob's is one of the oldest record stores in New York City dating from 1968. A story in the NY Times confirmed it today.

Freedom Tower Rises

At night from my Village perch the Freedom Tower looks like a jeweled Christmas tree. But up close at Ground Zero, it leaps to the sky and stirs the heart. Ground Zero at the World Trade Center has been a dead zone for years, so, though I hate the blue glass building style which permeates every skyline in the US, this is a welcome sight.
