Charles Street

From blogger TM: This is actually Charles Lane, not Charles St. This path is a remnant of the Newgate Prison which stood here and south to Christopher St in the 1700s. The lane was repaved with stones from the prison after it was taken down, making them some of the oldest cobblestones in the city.

a trip to roebling

once a great steel mill that supplied beams for the brooklyn and golden gate bridges, this ancient factory is now a tourist museum. Swanky....but the worn patina of its guard station and the looming rusty water tower looks like something else to me....
