It's 9:30 am and I am craving a hot dog! Next foggy day go out there and photograph the Cyclone from every angle. I wish I could join you!

Awesome pictures KM! It's sad to see Astroland closing down. I love those old amusement parks. When I was a child, we had Belmont Park that was right on the beach. It even had an old original wooden roller coaster, which they saved and refurbished after tearing the rest of the park down. They've revamped the park which tourists probably like but I never cared the the new one. Ocassionally we'd go just to ride the roller coaster, but that was it.

Ken, these are timeless shots. Love that first one in particular. I can't believe in all the times I've been to your part of the world I've never been to Coney Island!

but, I 've been to Coney Island...from Britanny in France. When I went in NY in 2002 I went to visit this place and I find it especially intersting because the metro stopped suddenly and we had to take buses ,it was asunday in April and ther were many people...and fog also.

Struggling to connect Coney Island with Greenwich Village ... oh, N, F, Q lines ... I get it :)

Definitely a pilgrimage I need to make on one of my trips to NY. Great stuff ... and I couldn't agree more about the less than imaginative developers. Good thing there is some historical baggage they have to deal with! Happy New Year, if I don't get back again!!

Walking through your blog for me is like stepping into Classic American Cinema and literature. When I hear demolition it fills me with the chills of the faceless structures to come.

Boy, even I've heard of Nathan's Famous. Is it really good?

Love all these atmospheric shots. Gives me the creeps though. Perfect for a horror or suspense movie.

Great shot of Nathan's. Altho it's been over forty years since the last time I set foot in the place, the moment I saw the picture my mouth started salivating and I could taste the hot dog and mustard.

Sheesh, what do they put in those dogs!?

The shot of Nathans is probably the best photo I've seen all week.

Spot on with this write-up, I truly think this website needs much more consideration. I’ll probably be again to read much more, thanks for that info.
