You know, I think I've actually been in Joes!

These are wonderful shots.

Glad to see these places are still open and pleasing their customers after all these years. Shame on those that chose to try and ruin the front of the bakery with their graffiti. That makes me insane. Why don't they go home and spray paint that junk on their own houses??? These old establishments are what make New York such a great place to live and visit.

Oldest bar in the world? I hope that's tongue in cheek.

Great work on your blog today and a very appropriate picture.

I've just racked up two years at South Shields Daily Photo and I hope to be passing here in two years time to compliment you again! Keep up the good work!
Thanks to everyone who has passed by and left a comment or some encouragement, it makes it all worthwhile.

Thanks for the comments, all. And yes, "oldest bar in the world" is tongue in cheek. I wonder where the real oldest bar in the world is?

McSorleys - the only bar in NYC that I've ever been to.

Oh wow, these are so charming! I love small, family-owned cafés and bars — most of the time, they have special, "secret" recipes that have been handed down through the generations. Sad about the graffiti on the second though.

Joe's looks so cheery in the sunlight! You'd never guess that pickled eggs lurk inside. Beautiful photos.

Just delightful photography. I really feel like I have visited NYC. Looks a little like Paris, looks a little like Cincinnati.
Just wonderful photography of charming subject matter. Loved the close up of the aged banister post of the Jersey shore Victorian home. That photograph just inspires 'stories.' Makes me want to make up a story about the owner. Very mysterious! Saving your site for future perusing, often. Love your site. Betty
